How the SignVideo Contact Centre Works
For too long, deaf sign language users have been excluded from walking into a public service provider's offices and using a service, unless an interpreter has been booked in advance. Getting an interpreter typically needs two weeks' notice and can be very expensive. In many cases, Deaf people just have to get by without any Sign Language access.
Significan’t offers the following five specialist services:
1. SignVideo Interpreting Service
- this can be used in 3 different ways:
- Visiting your local authority building that has a videophone and using the service to interpret a conversation you are having with a hearing member of staff there.
- Visiting your local authority office that has a videophone and using the service to make a telephone call to the department you wish to speak to and then interpret the call for you.
- By connecting to Sign Video from home via your videophone or webcam to make a call to your local authority. You need to give the interpreter the number you wish them to ring and they will interpret the call for you.
2. Translation Service
You may receive a form through the post that you need to complete but do not understand. You can fax or email the form through to our interpreters at Sign Video and they will do a live translation for you over the videophone connection.
3. Technical Support
You may wish to purchase a new videophone but are confused by the choice. Then why not come to our office and try out the different models available so you can pick the right one for you. In addition we offer setup and trouble shooting advice for videophone you have purchased as well as advice and guidance on Broadband providers.
4. Training
You may have a new videophone installed but staff may be unsure how to use it or the Sign Video interpreting service. We can come along to the venue and provide training to ensure everyone is confident in using the equipment so that when a Deaf service user arrives at your offices the service provided to them is seamless and effortless. 5. Quotes
